The treatment that I offer for substance abuse recovery – whether it’s alcohol, drugs, or prescription drug abuse – comes from empirically-supported cognitive-behavioral treatments, especially Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
If you are currently facing dangerous physical problems or harmful withdrawal symptoms, you will need to seek medical attention before we work together. But if you are physically safe and ready to go beyond the standard group treatment, I would like to help you identify and manage the root causes of this problem in your life.
If you are already participating in a group, then you have taken great strides toward recovery, and the service that I offer can help you profit much more from the work you are already doing. At your discretion, I will also happily work alongside physicians or other professionals involved in your recovery.
I understand that there can be a great deal of ambivalence about substance abuse treatment. That’s normal an understandable. If you are considering working with a psychologist, please contact me to set up a meeting. At the very least, we can identify some options. I will not pressure you or pass judgment.
